This is Sunman, Indiana. Sunman is nestled in quant Southeastern Indiana half way between Cincinnati, Ohio and Indianapolis, Indiana. Sunman has a population of 1049; a registered voter's total of 821 in the Adams II Precinct which encompasses Sunman, and a total assessed value of $3,129,555.00. Sunman is in the Eastern Standard time zone and has an elevation of 1,020 feet.
Community Park/American Legion Hall
Local residents and organizations make use of a 13-acre Sunman Community Park, which includes a community building, two ball fields, three picnic shelters, a basketball court, a playground, and two horseshoe pits. Whether its children playing on the playground, relatives celebrating a family reunion, men and women playing in their co-ed softball league, a local employee of Sunman enjoying their lunch, or one of the local organizations holding their annual festival, the Community Park is a great location for all to enjoy. A brand new American Legion Hall was recently constructed for Post 337 activities to include meetings, bingo, and hall rental for large gatherings to include wedding receptions, religious conferences, dinners, galas, concerts, expos, and more. Capacity of the Sunman American Legion Hall is 700 and includes a raised stage, stocked bar with furnished bartenders, and kitchenette. Sunman is governed by a town board consisting of Wayne Jenner, Jared Wolf, and Harvey Dobson. Kris Schneider is the town clerk. Sunman takes pride in the local facilities available to provide our children with a proper and excellent education and environment. Our children are the future of our community and we are committed to providing them with the proper tools, staff, curriculum, and extra-curricular activities.

Children living in the town and surrounding rural areas are enrolled in the Sunman-Dearborn School Corporation. Two public schools, Sunman Elementary and North Dearborn Elementary, and two private schools, St. Nicholas Catholic and St. Paul's Catholic are available. Students advance to the Sunman-Dearborn Intermediate School, Middle School and East Central High School. The Sunman-Dearborn Intermediate School is located at 27560 Old State Road 1 and can be reached at 812-576-1900, the middle school is located at 8536 Schuman Road and can be reached at 812-576-3500, and East Central High School is located at 1 Trojan Lane in St. Leon and can be reached at 812-576-4811. The Oldenburg Academy, which is a private Catholic High School, is located in the nearby town of Oldenburg at 1 Twister Circle and can be reached at 812-934-4440.

Emergency services are provided by the Sunman Rural Fire Department and the Sunman Area Life Squad, Rescue 20. All members of these two entities are extremely qualified volunteers who have undergone many hours of training and certification. All have a great multitude of experience.
